Behind the Shavings
Who I Am
Hi, I’m Josh — the hands behind HybridWoodTurning. I’m a woodturner based in New Hampshire who loves taking unusual, character-filled pieces of wood and giving them a second life on the lathe. Sometimes that means working with wild grain or chaotic burl, and sometimes it means pairing the wood with vibrant epoxy to bring out something unexpected.
What I Make
I create a mix of natural wood and hybrid epoxy pieces — about a 50/50 split. Some are subtle, some colorful, some bold, but all are turned with the same goal: to become unique art for your home.
Nothing here is mass-produced, templated, or repeated. Every piece has its own personality.
Why I Do It
There’s something special about taking wood that might’ve been overlooked — or impossible to turn on its own — and transforming it into something worth showcasing. I enjoy the challenge, the unpredictability, and the creativity that happens when you blend natural grain with modern materials and let the piece decide where it wants to go.
Custom Work
If you have an idea or want something made specifically for your space, I also take commissions. Whether it’s a certain style, color, species of wood, or concept you want to explore, I’m happy to collaborate on a custom piece that fits your vision.
